1. Dinner
Excellent downtown eateries include landmark establishments like Bijou Café, Selva Grill, Caragiulo’s, Barnacle Bills, Beulah’s, Mediterraneo and Salute. A little music with a meal is always pumping at Mattison’s while the Blue Rooster features down home cooking with plenty of Blues.
2. Circus Sarasota
In 1997 Pedro Reis and Dolly Jacobs opened Circus Sarasota. As lifelong circus performers, Pedro and Dolly drew talent from around the globe to create a one-ring, five-star European-style circus. Now operating under the Circus Arts Conservatory name, it performs in both Sarasota and Fort Myers every spring.
3. Sarasota’s Bay Front Park
Sarasota’s Bay Front Park and Sarasota’s Season of Sculpture with shaded walkways offer parking and access to Centennial Park where expansive green space is available to dogs on leashes. There’s even a friendly TIKI BAR called O’Leary’s nearby. It is here that puppies and owners can enjoy a beautiful sunset, meet new friends and go off leash to catch a Frisbee on the restaurant’s sandy shore.
4. Sarasota Polo Club
Every Sunday afternoon from December through April, the public is welcome to bring their picnic baskets and enjoy the thrill… of the “fastest game on four feet”. With pony and Clydesdale wagon rides, exciting action, tailgating, half-time entertainment, divot stomping and plenty of fresh air, Sunday polo is the perfect place for a family outing. And, dogs are welcome… on a leash.
